Welcome to the AFMS Network!
This Network aims to create and foster links between students and teachers, seniors and juniors, French and British. Whether that be through improving French abilities, enabling connections, or encouraging networking, there is something for everybody within the AFMS Network.
Let’s Speak French
Designed for students and doctors alike, the Let’s Speak French is a group that aims to improve your French abilities through regular and consistent sessions by offering the opportunity for monthly French discussions. Designed as a more informal course, the sessions allow you to immerse yourself in the French language for an hour, conversing with colleagues and other medical professionals about social topics.
Main conversations types included in this course include Balint discussions, journal discussions, a French culture club, and occasional conversations about French grammar. The topic will be released each month, one week prior to the meeting.
Electives and Exchanges
Interested in undertaking an elective or exchange in a French speaking country? We might be able to help put you in touch with a member from our sister committee in France, or find contact information for a hospital or consultant. Don’t hesitate to get in touch using one of the options below and we will get right back to you.
We also provide elective reports from various students throughout the years for a variety of countries. Why not check them out here!
Thinking of undertaking an elective in a French speaking country? We’d love to hear from you. Thanks to the generous donation from the Miss Ford charity, we are able to offer the Miss Ford Bursary to help aid medical students from Britain and France to spend elective attachments in establishments speaking each other’s languages.
